I had two trips on the Dunera, one over Christmas 1964 to Venice, Haifa and Genoa and the summer trip to Russia, which included a train trip to Moscow. I was with a group from the St Albans Boys’ Grammar School, the St Albans Girls Grammar School and others arranged by Mrs Boskett. What a fantastic introduction to world travel at 15 or 16 years of age!
Formed some great friendships there and unfortunately have lost touch.. Dick Jackson—if you’re out there—get in touch. I know it’s been a long time and I’ve been in Canada the last 40 years but there’s no better time to re-establish contacts.
I remember some idiot managed to drop his passport out of the train window on the journey to Moscow causing some degree of panic. Naturally, it all turned out well.
Those trips still stand out in my mind as the beginning of a lifetime of travel. Best value ever.
