  1. MANY thanks for posting here Roy!

Great to hear from you and I would ask – have you seen the other trip listing under Previous Posts? I suspect you may have but there just MIGHT be a connection in there?

Any more informwtion and photos to add – please do. If the “system” doesn’t allow (I need to check that) photos let me know and I’ll help you….

    Bye for now

  2. Hi Roy – your post made the hair on the back of my neck stand on end! Embarked in l’pool, Sea too rough to get the Belfast kids so we went to Dublin, Vigo, Tangier instead of Gib, Lisbon – beach trip to Estoril – can’t remember where we came back to but it must have been the same trip! it had to be!

We were in dorm Benbow. Muster station E2. I still have the badge somewhere. We were from London and we’ll remember meeting kids (like you?) ‘wot talked funny’ – what a sheltered life we led – growing up on the streets of post-war London!

Love to try and share some memories.

  3. Hi Chris. Happy to know that someone was likely to have been on the cruise.

If you are on Facebook, do a search for Roy Lampwortroy Lambeth.

Ask to be my friend, then I can share the 63 photos of the cruise that I have in an album there.

  4. I was 15 at the time when I was given a choice, either have a pen friend in Germany and stay there for two weeks OR take a educational cruise on the M S Dunera for two weeks.

On boarding the Dunera at Tibury Docks we then visited the following, Vigo, Lisbon, Gibralter and Cassablanca.

On our way back to Southhampton crossing the Bay of Biscay 20 out of 24 of us in our dormatory woke up being sea sick, as it happens I was one of the lucky 4 although I did feel so unwell.

As a result of this cruise I promised myself one day when I get older I would love to take a proper cruise, this I have now done nine times and seen so many countries and wonderful places thanks to M S Dunera.

    • Hello Allan

MANY thanks for your comment here!

ALWAYS good to hear comments from people who sailed on the Dunera – it keeps the site alive!

Altho’ I never did sail on the Dunera, I was asked to set this website up a LONG time ago by a chap who was on the ship. David’s story is here.

      Many thanks

      Bye for now
