Posted on behalf of J T from Italy.
My grandmother’s companion (since deceased) was on the Dunera as an Austrian Jewish refugee previously arrived on the Kindertransport and taken to Australia in 1940.
He was born (we think) around 1924 in Graz and changed his name to Alexander Shaw later (originally was probably SCHÖNTHAL, SCHWARZ, SHUR or SCHÖNTHAL.
As we are having a lot of difficulty finding his birth surname, is there any way that we can check a passenger list? He later received a compensation or pension for his experience.
I would be very grateful for any help.
