Thankfully we arrived in Southampton in one piece. — 2 Comments

  1. My elder brother and I were born in Palestine in 1941 while my father was a serving officer with the RASC.

My mother had travelled out to Palestine following my parents marriage in 1937.

When the soldiers including my father were moved back to England the soldiers families were taken by the Dunera to South Africa where we had to await a further ship to bring us to England.

The ship was the Empress of Scotland, renamed from the Empress of Japan following Japan’s entry into the nd World War.

    • THANK you so much for adding your comment here! It is always excellent to hear these stories and it keeps the whole thing “alive” with the comments from everyone who sailed on Dunera.

Please do let us know if you get any further contacts!!

      Bye for now

      Mike
